Crime Clean-up Day set for May 11 - Volunteers needed

Operation Our Town will be holding their fourth annual Crime Clean-Up day on May 11, 2013.  There will be two locations available this year for clean-up: Altoona and Martinsburg.  Volunteers are needed to help keep our parks crime-free by maintaining our parks’ appearance; painting, mulching, weeding, sidewalk sweeping, and trash pick-up.

Volunteers will meet at 8:30am at Highland Park (4719 5th Avenue, Altoona).  Each registered volunteer will be asked to sign a release form and will receive an Operation Our Town t-shirt during the initial meet & greet.  Children under the age of 18 must also sign a waiver and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Volunteers will then be divided into pre-assigned groups that will work together to clean the parks.

Volunteers must pre-register by May 3rd by calling the Operation Our Town office at (814) 296-8730 or by email  Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves and supplies.  In addition, supplies will be available at the site.

In case of inclement weather, the rain date is set for May 18th.
